TalkTalk YouView TV.
« on: January 12, 2014, 08:45:35 PM »
Got a letter from TalkTalk, apparently we can now have this for free. So I signed up for a new 2 year contract.
Same price as my old contract. Plus YouView TV. Is it actually any good though ?
We will have the ability to watch all the 'On Demand' TV from the last 7 days, and rewind 30 mins of current TV.
Recording programs isn't an option. That costs another £8.00 a month.

Ask Them if you need Fibre Broadband to use Youview.
Apparently you do if you want to use the TV packages because ordinary broadband speeds may not be enough

Basic free package Kent. We won't be buying any add on's.
If it affects my broadband speed they can have it back  ;D

Are you on an unlimited internet package? If not won't it eat into your monthly allowance at a rate of knots?

Unlimited, fair usage, Alsatian. Wouldn't have even bothered trying it if I was capped. Even if it is free.  :)

I'm with BT and on 10GB per month limit, and my normal usage is around 4 - 4.5GB. The other month I used about 6GB and I received an email from BT to let me know that I was exceeding my 'normal' usage and was approaching my 10GB limit!!!!

Now it's a long time since I was at school but, according to my maths skills, I still only used 60% of my monthly allowance!

Arrived today. Installed and working. No lag in my broadband speed noticed yet.
Will try Speedtest again later whilst watching something on catch up  :)

Aerial lead to 'Ant in' on YouView box.
Patch lead from 'RF Out' on YouView box to TV 'Ant in'.
Brill picture through HDMI cable from YV box to TV
No signal on the telly from aerial. Swapped a few leads, scratched my head and other body parts for a bit, then had a brain wave.
Went to the settings on the YV box, RF loop was turned off  :-?
That's one brain wave I haven't got a clue where it came from  :o
I've never known it before, so what made me look?
More to the point, how much cash will the TalkTalk help phoneline raise with people asking 'I can't get a signal' !!
