Bryan's DIY, Whitt Moor
« on: February 22, 2014, 03:53:28 PM »
To close at the end of March, sadly - another little bastion of personal service goes. A notice in the window cites the usual economic difficulties (and there was I, reading in the DT this week that Chesterfield was a boom town!) as well as difficulties getting the landlords & letting agents to repair the property.

Another one bites the dust.  :(
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Used to go there a lot when I worked in and around Whitt Moor area (1970s), and it was just like walking into Johnsons/Britts - disorderley, but you could almost guarantee you'd get what you wanted!

Shame  :(
There's a shop in Bolsover on the Wimpey estate that sells everything.
If you only want 3 inch of copper pipe he'll sell it you. Not the full 8 foot length.

Folks need to remember "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone".

Use it or lose it.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

That's really sad news.  Bryan's seems to have been there forever.  Had lots of stuff from there over the years.

Always sad when a small fry closes, what did it sell?
Hubby lost count of the people who told him how much they missed his shop when he closed.
Pity they didn't shop with him more  ;)

Fly, husband very interested to learn about this shop.  Can you tell us exactly where it is please?   :)

Green circle(bottom left), is Castle Arms Pub as you approach the bottom of Boza hill from the roundabout outside old Boza pit.
Turn left at the pub, then turn right up Houfton Rd and just follow it. Parking just above the shop(Blue circle top right).
Or nip along Houldsworth Crescent. 2nd left after the pub and turn right at the end..
