Despite totally diverse upbringings Dennis Skinner and Tony Benn had mutual respect.

I will be interested to read what The Scum will write about Tony remembering the vicious attack on him on by election day (not that i would bring such a "newspaper"into the house)

The problem now is that for the most part we are getting 'professional' politicians rising to the top. They all go to the right schools and universities study the right subjects and then get jobs as advisors to the top politicians. Then get elected themselves and are fast tracked to the top. Never lived or worked in the 'real' world.

The piece in the Sun was very respectful to Tony, (even if they didn't always agree with him), and said more of today's politicians should take a leaf out of his book.

When we selected Toby (who is from a working background) many of the candidates (with exception of an internationally known rock drummer) were from legal profession or similar. Union to politician is becoming increasingly rarer
