Chesterfield Hospital car parking
« on: March 23, 2014, 08:12:41 PM »
I have been visiting someone in the Calow hospital this last week and the visiting times have changed they are now 10.00am until 8.00pm. I have found a big difference in parking as haven't had any problems - plenty of room.
The only draw back is maybe for the patients who may be subjected to continual visitors and miss out on much needed rest.
Anyone know when this came into force?

A few weeks ago I think, I remember reading about it in the DT. It's a good idea provided longer visiting hours don't interfere with medical care or meal times or prevent patients from resting during the day.

When we were visiting the stroke unit a couple of weeks ago the visiting times were 2-8pm, with protected mealtimes from 5-6pm. Don't know if this has changed since then.

Must have Alsatian it's now 10am to 8pm.
I looked at your post to see when you had the problem with ticket.
It obviously pretty recent.

Hi

After being a patient on and of over the last 40 years, it's not something I welcome all day visiting.

It has been tried in the past and I have been as seriously ill patient when it was in force last time, and I found it very tiring trying to keep up a conversation and trying to make my visitors think I was glad to see them, well I was but by the time 6 or so of my family members turned up over the day I was utterly exhausted this took up about 5 hours of the day.

My visitors no doubt felt they should stay for a least 30 mins or so, I did not feel I could ask they to leave after they had taken the time and trouble to visit me.

The last I was in hospital I was glad of the restricted visiting, what I have found if I am sort of not really ill it's just something minor then all day visiting is fine, but the last time I was in the staff had the tape measure on stand by to measure up for a pine box, and the last thing I wanted was a steady stream of visitors I simply would not have bee able to handle it.

Any way that's my take on all day visiting

I agree with you on that Spire it needs careful consultation with all who want to go and visit so as not to overload the ill patient.

Having started the thread I can say it was a pain in the butt to park this morning about 10.30am.
It must have been large clinic day !
I had to drive right round the building and still couldn't find a spot.
Eventually joined a que and got lucky.
When I came out about 12.15pm there were spaces

Drove in today a tad earlier and parking was a doddle.
Three Fir Engines outside one of entrances though. As there wasn't much activity I take it it was a false alarm

Closed the lay-by opposite the hospital yesterday for Velocity Patching. Impossible to wok on otherwise with double parking all the way.
