So. UKip scored a major victory in the local elections - even in traditional Labour seats.

Anyone support them?

Nationally Labour made a lot of gains. UKIP probably helped by low turnout. people will be more aware of them next year, see what policies they come up with

Pity Julia Cambridge didn't take the time to answer my question... Might have known a bit more about UKip.

She'll never get my vote - breaking promises even before she becomes a politician proper.

Reading their website makes them sound pretty much like someone I would vote for.

Just how much of the racist, and other slurs, thrown at them are actually true, or juts spin from other parties ?

I think that's my point Fly - nobody really knows what their other policies are. I have heard that they think employers should be able to fire people without giving a reason or any notice. I've heard they want to break up and sell off the NHS. ect etc

But what is the truth? Have I just heard someone else's propaganda?

I do know this though - Farage was once a Tory, his father was a stockbroker, he went to public school, he went to work as a trader in the City for an American commodity brokerage firm and other large companies in the City. And I know that the people who nearly bankrupted the world have similar pedigrees. And I know their answer to this situation is to punish the poor, invalid and mentally ill...

As a Euro politician, he's made massive amounts of money but never votes and sometimes doesn't even show up.

If any working class person thinks because he likes a pint and a fag, that he's a friend of the workers... dream on.

And no - I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

Added: Ask Dennis Skinner about him. Or read https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dennis-Skinner/60783991559

I've been told before by a tory party supporter that I am better off now than a few years because I'm paying less tax.
True. What he didn't mention was, that the rent on our house had gone up by a proportionate level. Labour Council.
So we (me and our_lass) are no better off, just managing to keep out of the sh**.
Does any body really know what's best for us as a country. I don't think there's an answer to that.
The only people who do are making a lot more cash than me and still fu***** it up  ;)

Considering the info in your post Pete, Farage has just earnt a sh** load for himself. Nuff said  :-X

I've been on this soapbox before but once again this is why I will never understand economics.
1 the economy is stronger. (No politics please) this is a good thing.
2. People have (allegedly) more money to spend. This is a good thing.
3. People are spending that money. This is a good thing because it creates/secures jobs

So what do the economists want to do? Put interest rates up so that those of us with mortgages and loans will have to pay more and will thus have less money to spend. Which surely will then reverse the growth in the economy????
Is it me?
