Improving Old Whittington junction
« on: October 01, 2014, 01:09:58 PM »
Is this the road which comes out onto the Old Whittington Road at the bottom near the roundabout?

Work to improve a junction with a history of collisions starts on Monday 6 October 2014.

The junction of the B6052 and B6057 at Station Road, Old Whittington has a history of accidents stretching back many years. The side road is to be re-aligned to move it further away from the busy Whittington Moor roundabout to make it safer.
The work should last for 13 weeks. A partial road (one way) closure will be in operation on Brimington Road North while the work is taking place. The road will be closed to south bound traffic at the junction, but access will be available for northbound vehicles turning in off Station Road. There will be a signed diversionary route.
Derbyshire County Council's Deputy Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, Councillor Dean Collins said:

"The work we are doing will make this junction much safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. There will inevitably be some disruption but we will make every effort to keep this to a minimum."

The work will cost £180,000.

A lot of money but if it helps avoid accidents ??????

Yes OC, customer of ours lives in the bungalows there and was telling me.
The road is to be diverted so it comes out nearer the bridge. Auto world will be losing a bit of forecourt.
