The Labour party and fracking?
« on: October 06, 2014, 04:30:49 PM »
What's the official line from Labour on fracking? For or against?

We know the Cons and the LibDems support it, but what about Labour?
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

As far as I am aware they are in favour in principle but require a lot more regulation than the other two

No brainer - Fracking on hold until the winner of next General Election. Whichever party wins will seize the chance to release gas from beneath our soil & convert it into Energy.Sod the Co2 emissions.
It's like going back to finally discovering coal.Lets dig it up & do it. Gas is there & its free.
Fine - do it, but you must put residents concerns FIRST, not farmers who give up their fields for a fast buck.
IF IT CAN BE DONE SAFELY - I HAVE NO CONCERNS!
But there are so many doubts about contamination of water tables, etc., that I think it's a very dodgy subject with a poor reputation & should not be enforced upon us without proper consultation & guarantees regarding properties involved, underwriting issues such as future subsidence beneath areas of drilling, which your house insurance will wriggle out of.
The future has to be Nuclear in terms of energy - as well as solar. We have had no critical problems with our old & established nuclear power plants as I recall. Today's technology in building new nuclear facilities must make this the best option.
You only have one life, so live it & love it, & more importantly LOVE YOURSELF!
