Fracking
« on: December 04, 2014, 11:25:19 AM »
"A dispute has broken out between the company that undertook the UK’s only fracking operation and commentators over whether the wellbore has begun leaking.

Emails obtained by Vice News between Cuadrilla Resources, a UK oil and gas exploration company, and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) seem to show that the decommissioned fracking site has issues with what the oil industry refers to as “sustained casing pressure”.

The Preese Hall well in Lancashire seems to have suffered a “loss of integrity”, implying a possible leakage of shale fluid and gases. Cuadrilla has denied that this is what the emails suggest, and a spokesperson for the company stated that “the well integrity at Preese Hall is secure and always has been”.

And so it begins...  :(

If they aren't capable of carrying out these operations properly, how in hell can they expect to win the public over.
Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot. The public don't matter whilst the vested interests of politicians come in to play >:(

Govenor Bans Fracking in New York State

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s administration announced on Wednesday that it would ban hydraulic fracturing in New York State because of concerns over health risks, ending years of debate over a method of extracting natural gas.

Fracking, as it is known, was heavily promoted as a source of economic revival for depressed communities along New York’s border with Pennsylvania, and Mr. Cuomo had once been poised to embrace it.

Instead, the move to ban fracking left him acknowledging that, despite the intense focus he has given to solving deep economic troubles afflicting large areas upstate, the riddle remained largely unsolved. “I’ve never had anyone say to me, ‘I believe fracking is great,’ ” he said. “Not a single person in those communities. What I get is, ‘I have no alternative but fracking.’ ”

The relentless greed of capitalism...

A Navajo advocacy group has asked a federal judge to halt hydraulic fracking permits in the San Juan Basin of New Mexico, claiming that drilling threatens a historic UNESCO heritage site considered sacred by Navajo, Hopi and Pueblo peoples.

Wow that's one interesting looking settlement.
Largest I have ever looked round is Ephesus.

Disgraceful that these people even have to ask a judge for help in preserving this  >:(
