Paging OC - You sure about all these cruises?

Crew Rescued From Listing Car Carrier Ship

A car carrier ship which ran aground near the Isle of Wight can be seen leaning over at a staggering 45-degree angle, after the
crew on board were rescued today.
The 51,000-tonne Hoegh Osaka, registered in Singapore, blocked a busy shipping lane when it became stranded on Bramble Bank in the Solent, between Southampton and the Isle of Wight, at about 9.20pm yesterday.
The 25 crew members were safely rescued from the 180-metre ship by a coastguard helicopter and lifeboats.
The vessel is now being assessed for stability before a salvage operation can be mounted.

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

I've been following that Pete.
We have yet to hear how/why this happened.
Was it human error or mechanical.
I don't know anything about the company either Pete, what I do know is that there are Maritime Laws which should be followed - not all of the smaller companies follow them.
The Bramble Bank is well known in the Solent, so this shouldn't have happened.

We willl be sailing through the Solent later this year  :-?

They did it on purpose.

Old Cruser you would have loved this idea. A few years ago a Australia billionaire proposed to build a replica of the Titanic, but have more lifeboats this time but I had a sinking feeling about it.

Another nutter  :))

Actually there was a bit of truth in your post nicheuk.
Some time ago there was talk of a company thinking ( actually building, not sure which ) a replica of the Titanic.
The plan was to then run cruises on the same route as the Titanic.
Most cruisers, me included didn't exactly take to the idea.
Not sure if this venture ever went ahead.

Owners of cargo ship stricken off the Isle of Wight say it was deliberately grounded to stop it from capsizing after it began listing on leaving port

One can only presume the craft was loaded one sided though I find this very hard to believe.

So they are saying it was done 'deliberately' as their was a mechanical fault. The grounding stopped maybe the sinking of the vessel?

The Maritime seemingly gives the company a good reference.
Wonder if they are selling the vehicles off cheap  ;)

If that were the reason Fly someone will be in trouble
