WW1 - the letters everyone dreaded
« on: April 28, 2015, 10:06:45 AM »
It seems from documents that Walter left the Railway to fight for his country.
The documents below are the next I have regarding Walter's life.

My grandfather was in the same regiment with his brother Walter and told me that the Trench they were in collapsed burying some soldiers. They had  desperately tried to dig them out with their bare hands --------

So two years on from Walters railway work he was dead.

They are very moving letters OC, thanks for sharing.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

They are Pete, and so many others received the same kind of letters.
Below is what Walter's parents were sent from the village.

This last one again was kindly found and sent to me by our poppy.
Thank you again poppy
