McDonald's Chesterfield
« on: May 04, 2015, 04:51:57 PM »
Has anyone else been in since it was revamped?
I went in last Monday with daughter ( in powered chair ) and another young woman.

I'll first rewind back a few years when daughter took on McD's regarding access issues. The manager at that time stuck her out, she had a Barrister from London - it went to mediation and daughter won!
That was when they put in the disabled access toilets/baby changing, the automatic door and a small area of seating with a buzzer on for wheelchair users to get waitress service.
They also changed the colour outside to 'green' I wasn't keen on it TBH but they said it was more inkeeping with the town than red - fair enough good point!

What about inside now though.
Must say I wasn't impressed by the large circular standing only tables which no one seemed to want to use - so it was a fight for sitting down?
They've also changed the ordering set up, or there are screens to order from as you go inside.

Improvement or not?

When we went inside all the tables were take - including  the designated wheelchair user ones.
The high tables to stand and eat were vacant but no good to a wheelchair user.

I turned to daughter and remarked - 'well this isn't very impressive is it' One of the assistants was by my side  ;D
She obviously knew daughter ( maybe one of the staff from when daughter did the access campaign there? )

Then promptly went and asked a couple to vacate the wheelchair access table  (y)

I think we've only ever been in that McD's once. We walked in, saw the queues and walked straight back out.
Went to the drive through at Derby Rd instead  :)

The worst place Iv found for seating is Crown and Cushion hands down, most of which is stools and high tables. The one and only time Iv been in it was like having a pint lying down. Love to know what your daughter would make of it all?

She wouldn't be impressed I can tell you that - but could she get inside to start with?
