Mrs Browns Boys
« on: January 03, 2016, 08:27:36 PM »
We had a DVD of this comedy bought us for Christmas - it's very direct with the swearing and some of the things the cast says takes my breath - but it makes me laugh.
Some may find it offensive.
They get away with so much but it's one of my favourites along with Benidorm

Satire - near the bone stuff - innuendo - doesn't always suit everyone.
We watched the first "An Audience With Ken Dodd" - last night a repeat - must have watched it at least 4 times & still noticed jokes in there that were sexually orientated but tastefully delivered.
I admire Brendon O'Carroll for what he's done though ;)

I've seen the first film that was brought out :-(
The comedy aspect seems to run out in film, it just turn's into another near non storyline drag.

Much prefer the tv series's  <- If that's a word  ;D

I haven't seen the film - agreed the TV series was generally brilliant.
How many times have we seen a TV series turned into a film & flopped?

The film is just scenes from the shows and linked together to make the film.

Back in the 70's we watched Bob Monkhouse at the Aquarius - boy he got away with so much, but cleverly delivered

We love Mrs Brown's Boys at our house!  Have the DVD's and have been to the stage shows too.  Cracking good night!  So cleverly delivered due to the ad libbing.  There's much more of it in the live show than on TV.

And as for Benidorm - new series on tonight and I can't wait.  Primarily because me and daughter are off to there on Sunday.  We shall, of course be seeking out all the classy and cultural experiences ;-)

LOL....you mean like a night at Sticky Vicky's?  >;

Daughter wants to find Morgan's Bar which apparently is Neptune's in the Benidorm series.  I can see us rolling round Benidorm on bar crawls - for research purposes of course  ;)

When we holidayed in Benidorm a few years ago, they were filming just up the road from us at The Benidorm Palace. The 'stars' were staying in the hotel next door to us, apparently. We didn't actually see any of them  :(
