Harry Ramsden’s comes to Chesterfield
« on: March 15, 2016, 06:30:46 PM »
Anyone going to try it?

World-famous fish and chip restaurant, Harry Ramsden’s is preparing to open in a Chesterfield pub next week.

Making an entrance into the licensed trade sector, the iconic British brand will launch at the Wingerworth on Derby Road on Tuesday 15 March.

Harry Ramsden’s at the Wingerworth will feature an updated interior design popular with families, at the same time as retaining the pub’s local identity and remaining true to its own heritage.

Joe Teixeira, CEO of Harry Ramsden’s comments:-

“We relish this opportunity to enter into a new market and the great location, surroundings and reputation enjoyed by the Wingerworth Pub and Kitchen make Chesterfield the ideal place from which to unveil our newest model and further extend the modern day face of Harry’s to a new generation of customers.”

This latest opening comes as a result of its partnership with Punch Taverns and the Harry Ramsden’s team will manage of all aspects of the outlet’s day to day operation serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Hope it goes well for them. Just hope the fish and chips get a better review than when the Wingerworth first opened.
I'll see if I can find the review.

IV been in this pub many years ago then known as the Hunlock Arms had a meal in their. Even then you could tell it was struggling to make ends meet to me it's location seems out of the way .  It might work but got my doubts  might work better in a more central location.

Friend of mine ran the Hunloke many years ago and turned it around then since moving onto other venues its gone downhill. Tried the Wingerworth a few times but never impressed. My understanding is this is Harry Ramsdens first venture in a partnership with Punch Taverns and isnt just a fish and chip place....it will still have the pub part and will be a restaurant as well with good fish options but other stuff as well.

I would argue its anything but out of the way next to the big estate at Wingerworth on one of the main routes in and out of Chesterfield!

But people can't drink and drive now why pay top prices for fish and chips if you can get them cheaper elsewhere?

We used to go there a lot in the 80's, it was a very popular place, then it changed hands and wasn't the same.
There are frequent buses out of Chesterfield which stop just outside the pub but having looked at the menu it isn't a cheap place to eat - depends what you want I suppose

Didn't the Hunloke Arms used to have a, 'buy and eat 2, get a 3rd one free', on their mixed grill back in the early 80's ?

Can't remember that Fly, but we had works parties there for meals and it was a regular for us as a family, I think the people went to the Bluebell North Wingfield eventually but not there now.

Went past yesterday and they had a board saying they were open for Fish & Chips takeaway.
Just saying. :)
