Duke St. Whitt. Moor
« on: September 28, 2016, 10:52:16 AM »
One for the Over 70's.    Around 1960-64 just down Duke St. through an archway on the left  below the Chip shop, was the "Carlton Caberet Club". Before that a firm called MTM  "Midland Television Maintenance"  used it for a short time, and, before then It was A Billiard Hall run by Mrs Rogers who I think lived in Brimmington. My question is, what was the original  purpose of the building? When it was empty it looked just like a warehouse but for what and for whom?  And is it still being used for anything?

I've looked on the facebook groups, it appears there are no known photos of the Carlton Club.
At least I now know exactly where it was if that helps  :)

I too know exactly where it is as I spent many miss-spent hours as a Youth from around 1955, but what is the building now used for? Any ideas???
