My mates lappy died, so she passed it onto someone her son's friend knew.
He collected it and said he'd be in touch.
He got back in touch, and told her the hard drive was shot, and wanted £100 to replace it for her.
She said she couldn't afford it, but did have another hard drive, in another lappy with a broken screen she'd got.
So he called round and took the other hard drive.
He got back in touch again and said that hard drive was shot too, so it's still £100 to mend it.
Again she said she couldn't afford it, so can you just bring the lappy and stuff back.
He said he would, but there was a £60 charge for his time. No pay, no lappy return.
So it cost her £60 to get her still not working lappy back

I took the lappy home with me the other night. Took the original hard drive out. Hooked it up to my external HD caddy,
formatted it, put it back in the lappy, re-loaded windows, job's a gudden. Just had to download a few drivers etc.
More good news, he left his recovery/diagnosis dvd in the drive, so here's a link to some downloads.

I also told her, if he get's back in touch about his dvd, tell him he can have it back, for £60

So before you go paying for extortionate computer repairs, if I can help I will.
