Yet another bin!!
« on: February 14, 2026, 01:48:36 PM »
WE got home from shopping this morning to find a new "bin" on the doorstep. Obviously it's a recycling bin for your food waste, food, teabags and veg etc.

Apparently you have to dig out the grey kitchen food caddy that they issued you with about 10 years ago! you put all the waste in there then when full tie the contents up in a compostable bin liner {that you buy} put it in the new bin and leave it out on the kerb to be picked up, apparently this will be a weekly collection service.
I'm assuming the bin will just be collected and another put in its place, if true this means I will more than likely end up with one that's a health hazard because no one's cleaned it.

I had to smile when I read the pamphlet that came with it, among the items you should NOT put in it was "dead animals", having said that looking round at the knuckle draggers that live in and around I wouldn't be surprised at anything.

Wonder how long this gem of an Idea will last, probably till they realise how much it's costing. Your green garden waste bin that gets emptied every two weeks and goes to landfill I suppose none of that creates methane then!

I don't understand it either. This first one was complete flop. There must be money 'somewhere' to fund this new venture??

There's always money for vanity schemes.....they will just take the extra from the pothole repair fund, after all who's going to notice a few extra potholes!!

It's not the council's idea.  It's a government directive.

Correct but I'm sure the Government could find more pressing things to spend money on at this current time

One of those new bins will just fit nicely into a ginormous pothole just on the entrance to our estate.

I can't understand why it's still there, it's one of those that's so deep hitting that would fetch your tyre off, and the laughable thing is the number of council vans using that road daily to get on and off the estate you'd think something would have been done.

The Council hasn't any excuse, I looked on Google maps for that stretch of road and using the "see earlier dates" went back as far as 2009 for the same stretch and apart from a couple of small holes here and there it's never been this bad.
