Topped the taxi up with diesel, and my can with petrol, in Nottingham this morning. No queue  :D
Got back to the office, and thought 'sod it'. Jumped into my car, went to Sainsbury's and filled it.
Had to queue for about 20 mins  :(

Apparently quite a few stations are running out now.

That's it then --- everyone to notts to fill up our cars etc.  :)

The queues at Tesco's in Nottingham were horrendous  :o
So I called at a Texaco garage on the Hucknall Ring Road. Bit dearer, but no queue  ;)

Pete,

Best post I've yet read about the tanker strike but you forgot to mention the additional tax the government will earn as a result of the increase in fuel sales - and did you notice how pump prices crept up yesterday...?

I have to keep a full tank at the ready as my Dad is 92, disabled and lives on his own (with the help of carers) 200 miles away. When I called at Tesco, Chesterfield, just after 7.00 this morning, five pumps were coned off - not because the tanks were empty but because the lone cashier couldn't cope with the queues - sort out your staffing rota, Tesco!!

In less than two years of this coaltion we've had rioting, arson and looting in our major cities, 100,000s laid off, welfare services being slashed, youth clubs and libraries being closed and now this. What a state they've got us in to in such a short time and all in the name of Tory ideology - bunch of ****ers!

Chatsworth Road (going into town) was a car park this afternoon with cars queueing to get into Morrisons - I ended up going through Somersall to get to Hasland.

Loggins - Ashgate Road - had run out of unleaded, but Walton Motors had plenty and no queue to speak of.  ;D

Loggins - Walton Motors - and the one on the main Hasland Road - are all selling it at 142.9 per litre, I think they're all Texaco?

Diesel or petrol at 142.9 ??
Probably petrol. I paid 138.9 for petrol in Notts, Texaco.
Tesco in Notts was cheaper as I posted earlier.

Diesel at 151.9 at the Total filling station opposite the Donkey Derby. No wonder their forecourt was empty with a long queue over the road at Tesco where it was 147.9 per litre.

What I found funny was on the BBC 6 o'clock news tonight

They interviewed 2 people who were complaining about the people panic buying.  Guess where this interview took place?

Yep, thats right, in the queue at the petrol station.  Well thought out then!

Sky news this morning have had a London Fire officer on who was showing cans which COULD be stored with fuel in safely, metal and plastic I think he said but not tin.

It's the amount you're allowed to store that's the issue - Francis Maude said 'fill a jerrycan' which holds 20 litres, that's 15 more than you're supposed to keep in a can irrespective of what it's made from.
