The other thing is how the media want to "sex up" the girls involved.
Of course, they are full of the medal winners at the moment because they want to be associated with that success, but over the past few weeks there have been glamour shots of Ennis, Pendeleton, and the like. Why can't they be admired for their attributes, not their "attributes", and in 6 months time everyone will have moved on.
Most of those people fawning over Jessica on Saturday night will struggle to name the 7 events of the heptatholon in a few months.
But as you say, we get what we deserve, and it seems most of the country are morons.
