I always thought Winter Tyres had more grip but the main feature was the rubber itself, being more malleable at lower temperatures. Please correct me if im wrong.
Our road is still an ice rink and to be fair, id rather DCC gritted the main road so they were clear. Usually when we have snow, the majority of homeowners get a shovel and clear it. We all tend to do the road outside the houses or tops of the drive so at least we can park off the road where its safer.
I must say though, I cant believe that 3 days after the snow came, the roads are as bad as they are. I know its winter and the temperatures are low but there are still parts covered in snow and ice.
Ive had no end of comments correcting people about Sheffield roads. Lots of people moaning that SCC havent gritted certain roads but its actually Amey that do it! its also amusing when it snows, how many people complain about why they pay council tax if the roads dont get cleared. If only they had a brain.
